JAYDEE HUGLIN - STAFF GOVERNOR
Responsibilities: School Improvement Committees
I began teaching at Oakleigh in 2021 and have had the privilege of working with a variety of children at our school. I am part of supporting the teaching of phonics across the school and have a particular interest in developing early-reading skills with children with special educational needs.
I am also passionate about supporting pupils to develop a voice of their own and enjoy teaching at a school which also shared this value. Before teaching, I studied dance at Roehampton and use these physical language skills everyday when teaching our pupils to support my understanding of their needs and wants.
I have worked internationally with children and adult with additional needs. As a young adult I was the programme coordinator for a special needs summer camp in New York and thoroughly enjoyed being part of a team that created such a safe and happy place for these people. This experience inspired me to study special education teaching.
Teaching at Oakleigh has provided me with a deeper understanding of children with special educational needs and I am proud to be voice that advocates for these children.
