Our Facilities
Oakleigh was built in the late 1950s. Since then, it has undergone continued and ongoing remodelling, enlargement and refurbishment to provide it with an extensive range of facilities.
We have a hydrotherapy pool in which children both learn to swim and receive beneficial physio and hydrotherapy.
The large totally soft play room provides a challenging and safe environment for children of all ages and abilities, and the sensory room has many attractive sound and light features to support various areas of the curriculum and children’s development.
The school has two minibuses, and the mature and attractive grounds are divided into areas of large and small scale adventure play, grass, hard and safety surfaces and paths for bikes, wheelchairs and swings etc. We have outdoor classroom areas for pupils.

The classrooms, too, are well resourced with specialist equipment and a wealth of other teaching equipment for the full range of children in the school. Classrooms are equipped with computers with monitors and software appropriate for a range of Special Educational Needs. Most classes have access to a large interactive plasma screen, connected to the computer.
Where appropriate classes have additional communication aids which use speech and a range of switches to increase pupils' acess to the curriculum. Some classrooms have en-suite toilet areas.
